When you think of concerts, you typically think of them being hosted in major cities with large fan bases. However, Tampa, Florida, boasts some of the best concert venues for both high-profile celebrities and smaller bands. Whether you have an appreciation for rock, indie music or hip-hop, Tampa has at least one place that you can call home to your respective music interests.

Concerts are particularly popular throughout the summer. The warm weather and easy living make for the best kind of concert atmosphere, which is why most venues are outdoors. The next five concert venues are directed towards various music interests:

1.) Skipper's Smokehouse

Featured on The Travel Channel's Man vs. Food Nation for its famous Grouper Reuben Sandwich, this restaurant-based concert venue attracts people for both the great food and great music. This venue is both indoors and outdoors and all shows are rain or shine. Typically catering to the rock and indie music crowds, Skipper's has become well-known for its very laid-back environment. The venue itself carries an island theme entirely throughout, with overturned boats and wooden walkways. If you think this is the place for you, grab a few friends and head over to 910 Skipper Road, Tampa, Florida 33613. Also, check out their live music calendar on their website, skipperssmokehouse.com.

2.) New World Brewery

Located a few blocks up from the roaring nightlife of Ybor City at 1313 E 8th Avenue, New World Brewery offers a change from the kind of experience one would normally have in Ybor. The first thing to notice is that the stage is outdoors, where many trees tower above the wooden benches that are available for seating. This promotes a very secluded feeling, which attracts many to New World every week. People like the fact that, even though it is outdoors, New World is far removed from the crowds on 7th Avenue and therefore a sense of unity is formed with other concert-goers. Notorious for hosting small bands, New World provides a platform for talented musicians to showcase their skills. If you wish to see the next band perform, check out their calendar at newworldbrewery.net.

3.) Straz Center

If you are looking for more of a classic venue, the Straz Center in Downtown Tampa is a must-see. Known for hosting performances on the upscale level, the Straz Center gives off a very Broadway feeling the second you step into the theater. Shows such as The Phantom of The Opera and performances by The Rockettes have taken place here in the past, but you can find tickets for a variety of events. For example, on July 31, 2015 there will be a Jazz Intensive Concert at the Straz Center. Tickets for any events are available online at shop.strazcenter.org. Or, you may go to the ticket office at 1010 N. W.C. MacInnes Place, Tampa, Florida 33602.

4.) Jannus Live

Perfect for those summer nights when it is not raining, Jannus Live is an outdoor music venue which attracts people of varying ages, young and old. Located in the heart of Downtown St. Petersburg at 200 1st Avenue North, Jannus Live is in a great location for those who live in South Tampa, Clearwater, or Westchase. An eclectic selection of artists perform here, from rock bands to rappers. Even The Neighbourhood is playing here on September 21!

5.) Amalie Arena

Last but not least, the trademark of Tampa: The Amalie Arena. Home to major concerts in the past from Rihanna to Taylor Swift, the Amalie Arena is the home for noteworthy events in Tampa. Sam Smith is performing here on July 21, and events such as Cirque du Soelil will occur here in the future. If you have never been to a performance at the Amalie Arena, book a ticket to one today! While Ticketmaster is the most efficient way to find a ticket because of the number of events that take place here, you can always go to their ticket office at 401 Channelside Drive, Tampa, Florida 33602.

Tampa is home to many venues that allow for different artists to express their talents and diversity in music. From small venues like New World Brewery to the Amalie Arena, you will be sure to find a place that you feel comfortable in. Everyone has different tastes in music, which is why it is so great that Tampa has made itself a place where you can find the music you like, and also connect with other people who enjoy your taste in music. But always remember, if you are going to book a ticket do it in advance to avoid higher prices or sold-out tickets at the door!
